Relax in an elegant carriage decked out in plush seats, lush drapes and silverware, and look out at sweeping views of the Dandenong Ranges. As you travel from Belgrave to Lakeside, you’ll feel perfectly comfortable with a grazing platter and a drink. On the return journey, indulge in some afternoon tea. The First Class Dining Train experience by Puffing Billy will run on select Fridays and Saturdays from July 14.
First Class Dining Train by Puffing Billy
Your journey begins in Belgrave, with a warm welcome and your choice of beer, wine or soft drink. Settle in to your first-class carriage, and take in lush views of the rainforest, Monbulk Creek Trestle Bridge and other beautiful landmarks along the way.
On your way to Lakeside Station, you’ll enjoy a grazing platter, filled with cured meats, pickled veggies, artisanal cheeses and crispy pita crisps coated in dukkah. A vegan grazing platter is also available, with a flavoursome selection of vegan cheese, olives, tomatoes and more.
When you arrive, you’ll have 90 minutes to explore the Puffing Billy Lakeside Visitor Centre. Find gifts at the shop and check out artefacts in the museum. Stretch your legs by going for a walk around the charming Emerald Lake Park. Or, go a little further, hire a bike, and travel along the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail.
After that, hop back on the train for your return journey to Belgrave. Indulge in a classic afternoon tea – freshly baked lemonade scones, served with Yarra Valley jam and Chantilly cream. Pair it with a cup of tea or afternoon coffee.

First Class Dining Train experiences start at 12:45pm on Fridays and 12:35pm on Saturdays. The journey ends at 4:05pm on Fridays and 4:15pm on Saturdays. Bookings are essential.
