Picture this. You’re huddled up in your own private igloo, keeping warm by the firepit while snow gently falls outside. You sip on mulled wine with your family and friends, and feast on oozy raclette cheese. Are you in the French Alps? No! You’re in a carpark behind Fed Square, enjoying the dreamy Raclette Igloo Experience. After a sold-out season in Canberra last year, this immersive culinary experience is finally coming to Melbourne. Here for just three, precious weeks, it will run from Thursday May 18 to Sunday June 11.
Raclette Igloo Experience
There will be 14 igloos available for diners – each one will be named after a famous French ski resort. On arrival, you will be greeted by French-speaking staff, who will help you learn how to eat raclette. You’ll feel transported to the magical Alps, with snow, pine trees and twinkling fairy lights.
Inside, you’ll find up to two kilos of raclette cheese, delivered all the way from France. Find comfort with this melted cheese, alongside a selection of four cured meats, boiled potatoes, pickled onions and cornichons, served family-style.
Pair your hearty meal with the spiced warmth of mulled wine. The igloo also has a mini bar with a selection of French wines available for an additional cost. If you’d prefer non-alcoholic options, you’ll find a selection of soft drinks as well as still and sparkling water.
End the night in a cosy gathering around the fire and roast some giant marshmallows.
Pre-bookings for this incredible igloo experience are available from now until 8pm on Sunday April 16. Secure a reservation with a deposit of $99, giving you time to organise your friends and gain priority access to the best available booking times and dates. Otherwise, tickets go on sale on Monday April 17.
You can book an igloo for groups of six to eight people. The Raclette Igloo Experience costs $99 a person.
