Winter festival RISING is back in Melbourne very soon, and if you’re looking for something to eat before or after a show, why don’t you try something from the Moon Bites menu? Treat yourself to drinks, small bites and feasts on RISING-exclusive menus from great venues around Melbourne. All of these restaurants are located close to RISING events. These exclusive menus will be available during the festival from June 4 to 15. It’s best to book in advance to secure a spot.
Here’s what you can expect from Moon Bites at RISING
Aru
Start with the drink, Moon Landing, a concoction made of black porter, ginger wine, orange, toasted dandelion root and Beechworth fernet.
Then, tuck into:
- Steak and cheese bao, yuzu kosho
- Prawn toast, Chinese doughnut, coriander
- Alfonsino, young coconut, salted cucumber, Thai basil
- BBQ padron peppers, black garlic

Dom’s Social Club
For Moon Bites, this multi-level pizzeria and social club is serving up Miso Braised Lamb for $30. This lamb comes with a caramelised onion cream base, as well as kipfler potatoes, rosemary, mint, fior di latte and pecorino.
If you’re after something sweet, they’ve also got a Choccy Pud for $15. This classic chocolate pudding comes with vanilla ice cream.

Elio’s Place
This European bistro and bar on Flinders Lane is serving up a $35 set menu during RISING.
Start with a slice of house-made wholemeal focaccia with miso butter. Then, choose either pappardelle with white duck ragu and gremolita or baked pasta with napoli, chilli, scamorza and parmesan. You’ll also receive some dressed winter leaves to share.
While you’re there, you will also be offered an exclusive drinks menu. Just remember to select a Moon Bites time slot when you make your booking. Sessions last for 60 minutes.

Mesa Verde
Journey to the top level of Curtin House and enjoy a $45 set menu at Mesa Verde.
Feast on:
- Guacamole, chile-lime pepitas and totopos
- Cured ĹŚra King salmon tostada, habanero yuzu kosho, avocado and shiso
- Grilled seasonal mushroom skewer and malted barley mole
- Crispy school prawns, salsa macha and pickled onions

Kisumé
Choose between either a two-course menu for $60 or a three-course menu for $75 at Kisumé.
Start with edamame, followed by a choice of salmon sashimi or agedashi tofu. Then, enjoy either BBQ chicken teriyaki or Wagyu brisket. If you’re having three courses, you can finish on a sweet note with either hazelnut dacquoise chocolate mousse or strawberry sorbet.
If you’re feeling fancy, this restaurant will also host a special edition of their multi-course experience, The Chef’s Table. Starting from $275 per person, this meal will take place on Tuesday to Saturday evenings during RISING.

Haidilao
Heat up with some hot pot at Haidilao in Emporium Melbourne. Mention Moon Bites when you book online, and start with either salted egg-yolk-fried dough sticks or deep-fried crispy pork. Then, enjoy a signature hot pot with two soup bases, three meats, four selections of veggies, mushrooms or tofu and two self-serve dipping sauces. You’ll also receive a jug of plum juice. This meal costs $89.90 for two people.

Pirate Life
Head to this brewery in South Melbourne and treat yourself to their $50 shared set menu.
To start:
- Wood-fired spelt flatbread with beef fat and tirokafteri
- Blistered vinegar peppers
