TripAdvisor has revealed their Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2025. These awards are determined by reviews and ratings collected by visitors over the past 12 months. The awards are split into categories, and under Top Attractions for Australia, we spotted a very familiar place. The Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria came in fourth on the Top Attractions list, behind other notable icons like the Sydney Opera House.
Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria – one of the top attractions in Australia
TripAdvisor declared Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria as one of the best attractions in Australia, thanks to its stunning landscapes and diverse flora and fauna. The Melbourne gardens were given a rating of 4.7, out of over 10k reviews. Meanwhile, the Cranbourne gardens also had a 4.7 rating, out of 616 reviews. Both of the gardens receive over 1.7 million visitors each year.
“We are thrilled to have received this award, and to have created memorable experiences for travellers from around the world,” said Chris Russell, Director and Chief Executive of Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria.
The two gardens have plenty to offer, with a program of guided walks, mini-bus tours, picnic packages and arts and cultural experiences. Take part in a program, or explore the gardens at your leisure. On top of the beautiful landscapes, you’ll find plenty of places to eat and drink, such as The Terrace or The Observatory.
“We will continue to deliver new and exciting experiences for our visitors at two of the world’s most beautiful gardens,” said Russell.
Plans are currently underway at both locations to build new signage, pathways, viewing platforms, learning hubs and accessibility features. There’s also plans for an over 30-hectare habitat restoration in the bushland at Cranbourne Gardens.
