Step into the light at the immersive new installation, Shimmer Lane, in Meyers Place. This iconic laneway has been transformed, with glimmering bright walls, mesmerising buskers and scintillating cocktails. After walking through this enchanting street, stick around for some delicious food from local restaurants. Shimmer Lane is on from now until November 30.
Shimmer Lane
Check out the new installation, Light Bazaar, by Steven Manos. This bright piece is made up of thousands of mirror squares, which moves in waves and refracts light, turning the lane into a life-sized disco ball. Mike Makatron’s classic mural, Jungle Funk, has also been dressed up for Shimmer Lane, and is now made up with twinkling pieces of glitter. Both artworks will glisten in the sunshine during the day, and will use solar power to light up the night.
Both Lane’s Edge Wine Bar and San Telmo are serving up specially crafted cocktails. Head to Lane’s Edge and try the Shimmer Elixir. This drink features vodka, cranberry, lime and edible glitter. Meanwhile, San Telmo is getting into the spirit of things with the San Telmo Shimmer Sour. Pair your cocktail with some sizzling Argentinian cuisine.
For maximum good vibes, head over to Shimmer Lane on Friday nights and kick off your weekend in style. Musicians and buskers will perform outside The Loop Bar from 6pm to 8pm. Here’s the current schedule:
- Debbie G – September 15
- Little Notes – September 22
- CYNTA – September 29
Shimmer Lane is here in the city as part of the Dusk till Dawn program, which is encouraging people to come into or stay in the city after dark. Find more details here.
