A century-old church hall that transformed into a beer garden is about to be reborn, once again. Trinity in St Kilda will soon go through a $2 million refurbishment, introducing all-season weatherproofing, an outdoor music program, and an expanded selection of food and drinks. Trinity will also increase their capacity, so up to 450 people can enjoy the space. The venue will close for construction on Sunday, April 19, and is expected to reopen in spring 2026.
Trinity in St Kilda
The former ‘Holy Trinity Church Hall’ was originally built in 1925, and became the Trinity you know and love today in 2022. The works will include a full takeover of the site from the neighbouring church.
The oversized front courtyard will have a clear glass roof and wall along Chapel Street, transforming the space into an all-weather venue. With upgraded acoustics and flexible furniture, the courtyard will be a space for both sit-down dining and stand-up events of up to 200 guests.
With the glass enclosure, Trinity will be able to extend its outdoor licence until 1am, bringing its music program outside for the first time. Grab a drink, and enjoy a rotation of live acts and DJs throughout the week.
The existing Airstream kitchen will be replaced with a 12-metre, electric shipping container kitchen. You can expect the signature burgers and fries that you know and love, as well as a new offering of pub classics, Sunday roasts and lighter options like seafood and salads. The drinks list will also get a revamp, with seasonal updates and a focus on well-priced options for beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Popular drinks, like the signature spicy margarita, will stay.
There will also be a new private dining room, which was formerly a part of the neighbouring church. Suitable for 30 seated or 50 standing guests, this space has chapel-style windows, and is great for birthdays, group bookings and small events.
The playground will also get a refresh, with additional play equipment like a surfboard balance beam.
