Christmas is just a few months away, so it’s time to prepare for a beloved Melburnian tradition. For over 80 years, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has enchanted Melbourne audiences with their festive cheer. This event, presented by AAMI, is returning to Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Christmas Eve. Feel the magic of Christmas at this live show, and support children who are blind or have low vision along the way. Tickets are available to purchase from Friday October 11.
Vision Australia’s Carols By Candlelight
Listen and sing along to Christmas songs and carols at this magical community event. Expect plenty of familiar favourites and brand-new stars on stage, including Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, David Hobson and Denis Walter. More stars on the line-up will be announced in November.
“We are delighted to continue this wonderful Christmas tradition for another year,” said Vision Australia Acting CEO Justine Heath. “Not only does Carols by Candlelight display some of Australia’s finest musical talent, it plays a vital role in allowing Vision Australia to provide life-changing services to children and young people who are blind or have low vision to ensure they can lead an independent life and follow their dreams like their peers.”
You’re welcome to nibble on food and drink while you soak in the atmosphere and sing along to the music. You can bring along your own food and non-alcoholic drinks for a little picnic. Glass is not permitted, and eskies take up too much room. Soft-sided bags and hampers are fine. If you’d rather buy something, there will be a range of hot and cold food and drinks, including alcohol, available at the venue.
The funds raised from this event will go towards services, like educational resources, for children who are blind or have low vision.
Gates will open from 4pm, and the main event will start at 8pm.
Meanwhile, if you’re unable to attend the event on Christmas Eve, you can buy tickets to the rehearsal night on December 23. Of course, you can also watch the show live on Channel 9 and 9Now, or listen to it on Magic 1278 or Vision Australia Radio. Channel 9 will also replay the show on Christmas Day.
