Christmas is just a few months away, so it’s time to prepare for a beloved Melburnian tradition. For over 80 years, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight has enchanted Melbourne audiences with their festive cheer. This event, presented by AAMI, is returning to Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Christmas Eve. Feel the magic of Christmas at this live show, and support children who are blind or have low vision along the way. Tickets are on sale now.
Vision Australia’s Carols By Candlelight
This year will be the 85th staging of this Christmas Eve event. Listen and sing along to Christmas songs and carols. Expect plenty of familiar favourites and brand-new stars on stage, including Marina Prior, Denis Walter, David Hobson, Silvie Paladino and Rob Mills. More stars on the line-up will be announced in November.
“It’s thanks to the funds raised through Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight event that we can provide much-needed services to thousands of children who are blind or have low vision,” said Ron Hooten, Vision Australia CEO. “This year we welcome family and friends to join us in person at the wonderful Sidney Myer Music Bowl as we bring you the brightest carols yet.”
You’re welcome to nibble on food and drink while you soak in the atmosphere and sing along to the music. You can bring along your own food and non-alcoholic drinks for a little picnic, as long as it’s in a soft-sided bag or hamper. Glass is not permitted, and eskies take up too much room. If you’d rather buy something, there will be a range of hot and cold food and drinks, including alcohol, available at the venue.
Gates will open from 4pm, and the main event will start at 8pm.
Meanwhile, if you’re unable to attend the event on Christmas Eve, you can buy tickets to the rehearsal night on December 23. Of course, you can also watch the show live on Channel 9, or listen to it on Magic 1278 or Vision Australia Radio.
