Just a few weeks ago, American fast-food chain Wendy’s ran a pop-up in a Melbourne laneway. And if you missed out, or if you had a taste and you’d like some more, then it’s time to rejoice! Wendy’s has just opened its first Victorian store in Melbourne today. Not only that, it’s also the first Wendy’s drive-thru restaurant in Australia. You’ll find their famous burgers and Frostys at 1A Assembly Drive in Dandenong South.

Not to be confused with the Aussie Wendy’s Milk Bar, this American Wendy’s serves up burgers made with fresh Aussie beef. These are available in Classic Single, Double or Triple square-shaped patties, with American-style cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, ketchup and mayo. Carnivores will enjoy the Baconmater, a burger stacked with two quarter-pound beef patties, as well as crispy bacon, cheese, ketchup and mayo. Chicken burgers are also available, as well as double hand-breaded chicken tenders.
Pair your meal with some loaded fries, topped with bacon, chilli cheese or cheese. If you feel like something sweet, try out the Frosty, a chilled, creamy treat that’s thick enough for a spoon, yet smooth enough for a straw.
The restaurant itself can seat up to 74 guests. There’s also a drive-thru if you need something to-go. Instead of talking into a speaker, you will be greeted by a crew member, who will take your order on a tablet.
This new venue in Dandenong South comes after they launched a couple of stores in Queensland. The company hopes to open 20 stores across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria over the next two years, with 200 restaurants planned across Australia over the next ten years.
