The Glorious Sunset Safari Is Back At Werribee Open Range Zoo

Sunset Safari, the adventurous wildlife experience at Werribee Open Range Zoo, is back for 2022. Hop on a safari bus and witness some of the world’s most majestic animals roam about the Savannah at dusk. Immerse yourself in a bit of nature every weekend, from now until March 13.

Sunset Safari at Werribee Open Range Zoo

See giraffes, zebras, lions and more bathe in the golden beams of sunset in this iconic after-hours experience. On the safari bus, you’ll gaze in wonder as herds of animals roam through the plains. Then, journey through the walking trails and see meerkats, hippos and more. Zoo guides will tell you all about the animals, and the zoo’s efforts against wildlife extinction.

Listen to interactive and authentic performances of drums, song and dance, which will bring the rhythm and soul of Africa to life.

After that, try a range of food and beverage options on the tour, such as bistro dining, canap├ęs or cocktails. Take it to the next level by feasting with family and friends in a traditional African braai BBQ.

“Sunset Safari allows visitors to experience the essence of Africa, and there’s no plane ticket required,” said Werribee Open Range Zoo Director Glen Holland. “It’s the perfect setting for people to connect with nature and wildlife as the sun sets on the picturesque Savannah.”

All ticket sales from Sunset Safari will help Zoos Victoria fight against wildlife extinction. It will also support international partners like Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre, which specialises in wildlife conservation and research, animal rescues and community outreach programs.

“Through the stories your zoo guide shares, you will learn about the plight of species in the wild and how you can join us on our journey to secure a future rich in wildlife,” said Holland.
