Love a good vino? Then you’ll be pleased to know that the world’s first group of Private Members Clubs for wine lovers, 67 Pall Mall, is coming to Melbourne. This Club will house one of Australia’s largest collections of international and local wines. It will be the first Australian outpost of 67 Pall Mall, joining other Clubs across Europe and Asia. Expect a curated list of 5,000 wines, allowing you to discover new drops in a luxurious space. The Club is currently expected to open in mid-2025, and will take over the top three floors of 85 Spring Street.
67 Pall Mall
Melbourne was chosen as the first outpost in the Southern Hemisphere due to the city’s rich and multicultural history of food and wine.
“67 Pall Mall was born from passion and brought into existence by wine lovers, for wine lovers,” said founder and CEO Grant Ashton. “Melbourne was chosen above all other cities as our first outpost in Australia due to its close connection to independent and outstanding wine producers, allowing us to engage with a passionate wine culture and a knowledgeable collector community.”
Victorian wine producers that feature in the Club will have their bottles showcased through 67 Pall Mall’s global network, giving them a wider international reach.
What to expect
The venue will be designed by Rockett, the team that was also behind the Club in Singapore. The focal point will be a 7.5 metre wine cellar that stretches across two floors. Known as the Wine Wave, this will offer access to a curated collection of wines, with 5,000 by the bottle and 1,000 by the glass. The wine programme will be led by in-house Master of Wine, Richard Hemming. He will build a sommelier team and an extensive wine list. You can also expect seasonal food inspired by local cuisine.
The Club will take over the top three floors of the former Esanda Finance headquarters. Enter the venue through level 14, and admire 270-degree views and the expansive Wine Wave. There will be a casual space for meeting and socialising, a business lounge and all-day dining. On the 15th floor, club members can enjoy semi-formal dining. Finally, on the 16th floor, there will be a range of champagnes paired with a raw menu, as well as a whisky bar showcasing rare spirits. Take in views of the surrounding Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens and beyond from open-air balconies.
Members will have access to the Club’s wine storage facilities. There will also be plenty of events, such as wine masterclasses, food pairings, live music and more. Members will also have benefits with lifestyle partners, including access to private vineyards and preferential rates across resorts, hotels and spas around Asia and Europe.
In the lead-up to the opening next year, the Club will have a series of off-site tastings and events. A pre-opening concession rate for Members starts from $2,300 annually.
