When you think of hot springs near Melbourne, one of the first places that comes to mind is the popular Peninsula Hot Springs. Located just 90 minutes away from the city, this tranquil destination has over 70 bathing and wellness experiences for you to try. Rejuvenate your senses with the geothermal waters, which flow from 637 metres below the ground into their many pools and private baths. There’s heaps of bathing experiences for you to try, including moonlit bathing for relaxation under the stars. On top of the pools, you’ll find spa treatments, wellness activities and nourishing food. Make a weekend out of it and stay overnight by going glamping, or retreat into one of their eco lodges.

2. Alba Thermal Springs & Spa

Just down the road from Peninsula Hot Springs, you’ll find the peaceful Alba Thermal Springs & Spa. This sanctuary uses geothermal water, which is naturally heated in underground aquifers 550 metres below the surface. There’s 22 geothermal pools for you to choose from, as well as a sauna, steam room, cold plunge pools and botanical pools. Private bathing is available if you’re looking for total seclusion. 3. Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa

Take part in over a century of tradition with a relaxing soak at Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa. This historic venue was established in 1895, and draws its healing waters straight from the source. This bathhouse has direct access to the mineral springs, allowing you to find your bliss in the rich mineral waters. Unwind in the public Bathhouse area, and enjoy floor-to-ceiling views of the leafy Spring Creek banks. Retreat into the Sanctuary, which is for those aged 16 and over, and also features an aroma steam room, cold pool, salt therapy pool and mineral hammam. If you’d like to truly get away from it all, private bathing is also available. When you’re not floating in the water, pamper yourself with one of the spa treatments.

4. Japanese Mountain Retreat
