If you just can’t get enough of flowers, then head over to Montsalvat in Eltham and stroll underneath the wisteria. You’ll find the Poolside area bursting with violet and lavender hues for just a few precious weeks this spring. The wisteria at Montsalvat is now in bloom, and they’ve extended their open hours in the grounds for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the rest of September.
Wisteria at Montsalvat
This charming, heritage-listed arts village and community stretches across 12 acres in Eltham. Wander through the space, and feel transported to the south of France as you stroll among the provincial and Gothic-style buildings. Established in 1934, Montsalvat was built by a community of artists. Today, you can soak in art and culture by checking out exhibitions, taking part in workshops, seeing live music and more. You can also stroll among the gardens, relax with a picnic and even paint in the open air.
In spring, Montsalvat blooms with dreamy wisteria. Located on the Poolside terrace, the wisteria is over 80 years old, and was first planted alongside the completion of the Long Gallery. Now, the vines stretch out over the length of the terrace, leading to a canopy of ethereal purple blooms.
The wisteria is now in bloom, and Montsalvat has adjusted their opening hours to the grounds for the rest of September. Generally, these flowers are in bloom for two to three weeks, so it’s best to visit sooner rather than later.
Entry for adults is $14, and the venue is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Check here to find out the opening hours for the rest of the month.
