We’re definitely desperate for a train to the airport, but for now, we’ll just have to make do with taxis, Uber and SkyBus. And after starting an express service to Melbourne’s east just a few months ago, SkyBus has launched an express service to Sunshine. The SkyBus Sunshine Express will connect more passengers in the western suburbs, as well as regional travellers, to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport. This new service starts today, on Sunday November 9, and runs seven days a week.
SkyBus Sunshine Express
When the Metro Tunnel opens, this bus service will connect with passengers from the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines, as well as people living in the western suburbs. It will also improve connections for Victorians coming in on the Ballarat, Ararat, Warrnambool and Geelong lines.
This service is expected to run every 30 minutes during operating hours. From Sunshine to the airport, the journey is roughly 24-45 minutes to T4, and 27-48 minutes to T1.
To celebrate the new route, introductory tickets to the Sunshine Express are $9.99 per adult each way. These tickets are valid for one month from the date of purchase. This introductory offer is available until December 31.
You’ll find it at Bay 6 at Sunshine Station. Learn more about this new service here.
Otherwise, you can catch the SkyBus to Melbourne Airport from Southern Cross Station. Travellers from the south-east can hop aboard the Peninsula Express, while those from the east can use the Eastern Express, which launched in August.
