Winter is full of wonderful evening light experiences, from the dreamy Lightscape in the Royal Botanic Gardens to the enchanting Winter Glow Festival at Adventure Park. And if you love heritage trains, but you missed out on tickets to Puffing Billy’s Train of Lights, there’s another delightful winter train for you to try. Head roughly 90 minutes west of Melbourne to the Bellarine Peninsula, and hop aboard a cosy train to experience Steamlight Nights. Your train will depart from Queenscliff Railway Station and take you on an enchanting evening ride. This fun experience will take place on Saturday July 19, Saturday August 2 and Saturday August 23.
Steamlight Nights Experience by The Bellarine Railway
Hop aboard a steam train and journey under the stars from Queenscliff to Lakers Siding. When you arrive, you’ll find a station decked out in winter décor, with crackling firepits, twinkling lights and even a sprinkle of snow. Grab some marshmallows and toast them by the fire, and take part in some family-friendly games.
The Night Train leaves at 7:30pm, but if you’d prefer something slightly earlier, you could also go for a Sunset Train, which leaves at 5pm, and will allow you to watch the shifting landscape of Swan Bay as darkness sets in. This experience takes one hour to complete.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for concession and $15 for children. To make your booking, click here.
