There have been so many cool markets to check out around Melbourne lately, from the new farmers market in Docklands to the Lost Woods Market in Emerald. And if you’re in the western suburbs, you’ll be happy to know that the Firefly Night Market is coming back to Tarneit this weekend. Browse through over 70 stalls, see glowing installations, enjoy live performances and more. This event is free to attend, and will take place on Saturday, June 27. It will run from 4pm to 9pm.
Firefly Night Market
Penrose Place will be bustling with activity. Wander around and look at over 70 market stalls, featuring local makers, artisans and cool gifts. Then, warm up with an aromatic chai from the Little Growling Cafe Chai Tent, and check out the huge range of food trucks and vendors, showcasing cuisine from around the world.
“It’ll be great to catch up with friends and family, grab a bite and settle in for some amazing performances, connect with the community and support local traders,” said Wyndham City’s Mayor Cr Preet Singh.
There will be roving performers throughout the night, as well as plenty of entertainment across the Main and Side Stages. Think fire performances, rhythmic taiko drumming, a quirky set from BBQ punk band The Burnt Sausages, a live performance from pop artist Umbra Moon and much more.
The whole family will have plenty to see and do, with interactive circus activities from Not My Circus, creative play spaces from Playable Streets and glowing installations.
Getting there
Walking is encouraged if you live locally. If you are driving, there will be street parking available, with the nearest carparks at Only About Children Childcare, Goddard St Reserve and Tarneit Central Kindergarten. Accessible parking is available at Penrose Community Centre and Tarneit Gardens Shopping Centre. There will be a designated drop off and pick up zone on Penrose Promenade, as well as traffic officers to assist with parking management.
If you are using public transport, the 167 bus will stop near the event, and connects to Tarneit and Hoppers Crossing train station. Meanwhile, the 180 bus from Werribee train station has a stop at Crossway Avenue, which is about a ten minute walk from the event. Plan your journey here.
