The Chocolateries in the Yarra Valley, Great Ocean Road and Mornington Peninsula are keeping us nice and toasty with a delightful hot chocolate festival this August. Expect 31 tasty flavours, with fun and creative elements like chocolate stilettos and giant marshmallows. The flavours will rotate each week, so you can keep coming back for more. Check it out from August 1 to 31.
Hot Chocolate Festival at The Chocolateries
If these chocolateries sound familiar, it’s because they’ve thrown other tasty food festivals, celebrating ice cream, rocky road, brownies and more.
Now, they’ve created 31 new delicious and decadent flavours for you to indulge in. All of them will feature milk, dark, white, ruby or caramelised white couverture chocolate, as well as a giant fluffy marshmallow and playful elements for stirring, dunking and slurping. A different menu of eight flavours will drop every Friday in August.
Highlights include:
- Drinks With Girls -this berry-infused, ruby hot chocolate comes with a pink milk chocolate stiletto, and an Irish Cream marshmallow for dunking.
- Next time Socceroos – watch green and gold mini marshmallows burst from a chocolate soccer ball, as it melts into a hot chocolate made from milk and white chocolate.
- Sticky Little Dumplings – this caramelised white hot chocolate comes with a vanilla marshmallow, and two gooey golden syrup dumplings.
- Tipsy Lemon – this hot white chocolate and lemon infused drink comes with a white chocolate cup, filled with limoncello ganache and piped meringue, as well as some fresh biscotti for dipping.
- Dot Cake – find a nostalgic polka dot covered disc on top of a classic milk hot chocolate.
Vegan options will also be available, and dogs can join in on the fun with their very own Woofaccino. Vote for your favourite flavour, then go into the draw to win 31 kg of couverture chocolate.
During the festival, there will also be hot chocolate tasting sessions. In a 30 minute, hands-on session, you’ll sip and sample eight delicious flavours. On top of that, you’ll get to choose from a range of tasty ingredients to make three personalised hot chocolates at home. Each session is $28 per person and bookings are essential.
Another activity you can try is the Hot Chocolate Creation Lab. Fill and decorate three ‘chocolate spheres’ with your choice of ingredients, and have them sealed to take home. Drop the chocolate bombs into hot milk for your own delectable drink. This workshop is $12 per person, and is available on weekdays from 9am to 2pm during the festival. No bookings are needed for this experience.
