The excellent chocolatiers behind Yarra Valley Chocolaterie, Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie are keeping us nice and toasty with a delightful hot chocolate festival this August. Expect 31 tasty flavours, with fun and creative elements like sponge tacos and choc-lined cones. The flavours will rotate each week, so you can keep coming back for more. Check it out from August 1 to 31.
Hot Chocolate Festival
If these chocolateries sound familiar, it’s because they’ve thrown other tasty food festivals this year, celebrating ice cream, rocky road, brownies and more.
Now, they’ve created 31 new delicious and decadent flavours for you to indulge in. All of them will feature milk, dark, white, ruby or caramelised white couverture chocolate, as well as a giant fluffy marshmallow and playful elements for stirring, dunking and slurping.
Highlights include:
- Sweet Berry Tacos – this berry-infused, milk chocolate concoction comes with a sponge taco, filled with white chocolate ganache and fresh berries for dunking.
- Dubai Sphere – a pistachio marshmallow and golden sphere, filled with Dubai chocolate crème, which you can drop and melt into a steaming hot milk chocolate.
- Affogato Cone – this coffee-infused dark hot chocolate comes with a choc-lined waffle cone, topped with a mini scoop of house-made vanilla ice cream.
- Angel Hair Chocolate – melt or dip a lil chocolate bar filled with Middle Eastern fairy floss into a strawberry and white chocolate hot chocolate.
During the festival, there will also be hot chocolate tasting sessions. In a 45 minute, hands-on session, you’ll sip and sample eight delicious flavours. On top of that, you’ll get to choose from 50 ingredients to make three personalised hot chocolates at home. Each session is $28 per person and bookings are essential.
Another activity you can try is the Chocolate Bomb Lab Workshop. Fill and decorate three ‘chocolate bombs’ with your choice of ingredients, and have them sealed to take home. Drop the chocolate bombs into hot milk for your own delectable drink. This workshop is $10 per person, and is available from 9am to 2pm at the Yarra Valley location, or 9am to 5pm at the Great Ocean Road store. No bookings are needed for this experience.
