With the newly opened Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe in Melbourne Central, and the stellar Star Wars Cafe at Melbourne Museum, it feels as though Melbourne has fallen in love with themed cafes. And now, there’s a new one to add to your bucket list, with a cheerful Malibu Barbie Cafe at Chadstone. This pop-up experience comes after the success of Mattel’s Malibu Barbie Cafe across the United States, and will make its Australian debut right here in Melbourne.
Live out all of your Barbie dreams in this picture-perfect dining experience, and expect other fun things like a roller rink and exclusive merch. The Malibu Barbie Cafe will open on Friday June 27, and stick around until summer 2026. Bookings are available now.

Malibu Barbie Cafe
This immersive experience will make its first international appearance outside the US right here in Melbourne. The pretty space will stretch across two levels. On the menu, you’ll find casual dining options, with Pacific Paradise Pancakes for all your brunch needs, smaller bites like California Dream Rolls and larger mains like a Beach Burger with classic fries. Stay nice and sweet with desserts like cupcakes, donuts and a retro soda float served in a pink convertible. As for drinks, you’ll find fun options like pink lemonade and pink latte.

Venture upstairs and feel the Kenergy in the Ken Kabana. Sip on cocktails that capture the spirit of 1970s Malibu, those golden days when Malibu Barbie was first introduced to the world. Mocktail versions will also be available.
You’ll also find a Malibu Barbie Cafe x Impala skate rink. Roller skate to upbeat tunes surrounded by palm trees and murals.

Find interactive experiences around the cafe and take plenty of photos. See a History of Beach installation and learn about Barbie’s evolution over the years, and check out a life-sized Barbie doll box. You’ll also find fun and exclusive limited-edition merch to take home.
The Malibu Barbie Cafe will stay at The Social Quarter in Chadstone from June 27 until summer 2026. Bookings are available now, and you can stay up-to-date via the website or social media.
